MetaのAIは、今まさに歴史的な崩壊の渦中にある。
2013年にFAIRを立ち上げ、PyTorchで世界中の研究者を味方につけ、誰よりも早く大規模言語モデルの土台を築いたMeta。
2022年のChatGPTショック以降、Zuckerbergは「AIにすべてを賭ける」と宣言し、2025年だけで1,140億〜1,180億ドル（約18兆円）という天文学的な資金を投入。GPUは130万枚以上、現金残高は1,000億ドル超。
これだけのリソースを世界中のどの企業よりも早く握っていた。
それなのに、2025年4月にリリースされた「Llama 4」は、業界史上最悪レベルの大失敗だった。
- 400BパラメータのMaverickは、公式ベンチマークでは「GPT-4.5超え」を謳ったが、実際の第三者評価（LMSYS Arena、LiveCodeBenchなど）ではClaude 3.7 Sonnetはおろか、中国のDeepSeek V3（非推論モデル）にすら完敗。
- 「10Mトークンコンテキスト」は実質256kの虚偽で、長文タスクで即座に崩壊。
- 2兆パラメータ級の超巨大モデル「Behemoth」は「トレーニング中」を理由にいまだに公開できず、年内リリースも絶望的。
- 開発者コミュニティ（Reddit、Hugging Face、X）では「ベンチマーク詐欺」「史上最大の失望」と総攻撃を受け、オープンソース界の王座は中国・フランス勢に完全に奪われた。
失敗の余波は内部をも破壊した。
2025年だけで組織再編は実に4回。
FAIR（基礎研究の聖地）を中心に600人以上のレイオフが実行され、深層学習の父・Yann LeCun（チーフAIサイエンティスト）も2025年末での退社が確定。
「LLMはAGIへの道ではない」と主張するLeCunと、「とにかくスケールだ」と突き進むZuckerbergの対立は決定的で、FAIRは事実上解体された。
新設されたSuperintelligence Labs（MSL）は28歳のAlexandr Wang（元Scale AI CEO）を最高責任者に据え、高額報酬で他社から人材を強奪しているが、古株研究者との派閥争いと報酬格差で内部は修羅場と化している。
世界中の開発者・研究者の声は、驚くほど一致している。
