禅の世界では「施無畏」（せむい）といいます。

仏教の「三施」の一つとして、観世音菩薩の異名（施無畏者）としても使われているこの言葉。

太古の昔から、現代に至るまで、人々は変わらず
不安と恐れの中で生きています

色んなことはあるんだろうけど、
結局はこれと、どのように向き合えるかが
人の深みや成長や行動力の尺度になる気がします

これから先どうしよう
もうだめだ

こんな感情になってしまったとき

「まぁ、しんぱいないよ」

と、言いつつ手を差し伸べてくれる人の存在は
どれだけ大きいことか

そんなことを思い出したりしつつ

この言葉が、そっと沁みてきます。

In Zen, the act of lifting fear from the hearts of others and offering them peace is called “Semui” — the Gift of Fearlessness.

From the dawn of time to this very moment, people have always lived with shadows of anxiety and fear.

There may be countless reasons, yet in the end, how we face those shadows shapes the depth of our spirit, our growth, and our will to move forward.

When we find ourselves whispering,
“What should I do now?”
“I can’t go on…”

— And someone reaches out, gently saying,
“It’s all right… don’t worry.”

How immense, how sacred that presence feels.

Remembering this,
the word Semui quietly seeps into my heart.
