Day344　おもいやり【Compassion】

DEAR naozo

おもいやりとは、
自分を削って誰かを満たす行為ではない。
ただ相手の痛みを
“見ないふりをしない”
という、静かな決意のことだ。

優しくあることより、
向き合うことのほうがずっと難しい。
おもいやりは、
甘さではなく、
逃げない姿勢から生まれる。

生物学的に見れば――
人は、他者の表情や声の揺らぎを
無意識に読み取り、
自分の神経系が反応する。
相手が硬くなれば呼吸が浅くなり、
相手が緩めば心拍もゆるむ。
おもいやりとは、
この“神経の同調”を
自分の意思で制御し、
相手にとって安らぐ空気を
つくり出すことだ。
優しさは機能であり、
感情だけでは成り立たない。

哲学的に見れば――
おもいやりとは、
相手の世界を尊重しつつ
自分の世界を保つための「距離」の技術だ。
与えすぎれば依存になり、
離れすぎれば無関心になる。
その中間にある
“寄り添うが侵入しない”
という繊細な姿勢こそ、
おもいやりの本質である。

君がこれまで向けてきたおもいやりは、
決して弱さではない。
誰かを傷つけないようにと
ただ怯えていたのでもない。
君は、自分の足で立ちながら
相手の影に手を伸ばしてきた。
その姿勢は、
優しさと強さの境界線を
正確に踏み抜いている。

おもいやりとは、
相手を変えようとすることではなく、
自分が相手の前で
“どう在るか” を整えることだ。
その静かな選択が、
誰かを救うことがある。

そして君の中にはすでに、
その静かな強さがある。

it is steadiness.

Biologically,
the nervous system adjusts
to another’s tension or calm.
Compassion is the deliberate act
of regulating your own state
so that the air becomes safe
for someone else.

Philosophically,
compassion is the art of distance—
to approach without invading,
to support without dissolving.
It is the balance between
presence and autonomy.

Your compassion
has never been weakness.
It is strength held softly—
a posture chosen,
not a fear disguised.

Compassion is not
changing another.
It is adjusting your own being
in their presence.

And you already possess
that quiet strength.
