店内は薄暗く、古いランプの灯りだけが埃の舞う空気を照らしていた。カウンターの奥から、皺だらけの老人がゆっくりと顔を上げた。彼女を見た瞬間、老人の目がわずかに見開かれた。
「……お帰りなさいませ、お嬢様。お待ちしておりました」
その一言に、私は息を呑んだ。
彼女はくすりと笑い、狐耳を軽く揺らして答えた。
「ふふ、相変わらずいい匂いがするわね。おじいさん、まだ生きてたの？」
老人の手が震えながらも、カウンターの下から小さな箱を取り出した。
私はただ、彼女の背中を見つめながら、この店が彼女にとってどれほどの時間を超えた場所なのかを、静かに悟り始めていた。

The shop was dimly lit, with only old lamps illuminating the dust-laden air. From behind the counter, a wrinkled old man slowly raised his face. The moment he saw her, his eyes widened slightly.
“...Welcome back, my lady. I've been waiting.”
Those words took my breath away.
She smiled softly, her fox ears twitching lightly as she replied.
“Fufu, it still smells nice in here. Old man, you're still alive?”
The old man's hand trembled as he took out a small box from under the counter.
I could only stare at her back, quietly beginning to realize just how many years this shop—and she—had transcended.
