MetaがGPUを増やしてもLLMの学習は速くならないという常識を覆す研究を発表しました。

LLMの学習において、H100のような最新GPUを数千台規模で並べた際、最適化なしではGPUの利用率（MFU）がわずか10%台にまで急落するケースが存在することが明らかに。

計算能力が爆発的に向上した結果、皮肉にも「計算」ではなく「待機」がボトルネックになる現象が起きています。

LLM開発者が直面する、この"Diminishing Returns"（収穫逓減）の詳細を4つのポイントにまとめました。

1. 真犯人は「通信オーバーヘッド」
なぜ性能が落ちるのか？答えは「通信」です。H100はA100に比べて計算速度が桁違いに速いため、次のデータを待つ「待機時間」の比率が相対的に増大します。つまり、計算があっという間に終わってしまい、ネットワーク（400Gbpsでも）からのデータ到着を待つ時間が支配的になるのです。スケーリングにおいて、GPUは「計算機」から「巨大な分散通信ノード」へと性質を変えます。このシフトを見誤ると、高価なH100がただの暖房器具と化します。

2. Metaの事例：A100 vs H100の死闘
MetaのLlama 3（H100/24k台）とLlama 2（A100/16k台）の比較は示唆に富みます。彼らはH100環境で、A100時代と同等のMFU（約38-43%）を維持するために、凄まじいエンジニアリングを要しました。H100の強力すぎる計算力が、隠れていた通信オーバーヘッドを露呈させたからです。「新しいハードウェアだから速い」のではなく、「新しいハードウェアほど、通信の遅延が致命傷になる」のが現実です。

3. 戦略の転換：データ並列からモデル並列へ
数千台規模のクラスタでは、単純なデータ並列（DDP/FSDP）だけでは限界があります。通信量を削減するために、「モデル並列化」への移行が不可欠です。

Metaは「4D並列化」を採用しました：
1. テンソル並列（TP）：ノード内高速通信を活用
2. パイプライン並列（PP）：ノード間通信を隠蔽
3. コンテキスト並列（CP）：長文脈対応
4. データ並列（FSDP）

「どう計算するか」より「どう通信を減らすか」が、現代のAIインフラの主戦場です。

4. 結論：並列化戦略の再考を
GPUの量は、適切な戦略があって初めて速い学習に繋がります。Metaが「Compute Optimal（学習効率）」から「Inference Optimal（推論効率）」へ舵を切ったように、ハードウェアの特性に合わせた戦略の再設計が必要です。 December 12, 2025

Stray Kidsメンバー リノの健康状態についてご案内いたします。

リノは 11月29日（土）2025 MAMA AWARDSのステージ途中に足首を負傷し、現地にて可能な治療を受け、また11月30日（日）帰国後、すぐに病院を訪れ、必要な検査と治療を行いました。

検査の結果、足首の捻挫と診断され、医療陣の所見に従い、適切な治療を受けながら十分な休息を取る予定です。

ご心配をおかけしたファンの皆さまには深くご理解をお願い申し上げます。当社はアーティストの健康を最優先に考え、リノの一日も早い回復のため最善を尽くしてまいります。

We would like to inform you about the health condition of Stray Kids member Lee Know.

During the 2025 MAMA Awards performance on November 29 (SAT), Lee Know sustained an ankle injury and immediately received the necessary treatment on site. Upon his return to Korea on November 30 (SUN), he immediately visited the hospital to undergo additional examinations and receive treatment.

He has been diagnosed with an ankle sprain, and in accordance with the medical team’s opinion, he will be receiving appropriate treatment and taking sufficient rest.

We kindly request the understanding of fans who may have been concerned, and assure you that we will continue to prioritize the artist’s health as we support Lee Know’s swift recovery.

Je crois que ce qui m'a surpris le plus furent les séquences du passé quasi sans bruitage, ni musique, presque silencieuses.
