人と人のあいだに

JR東海では、1987年から1992年にかけて東海道新幹線を題材とされましたCMシリーズを次々と繰り出されました。
「シンデレラ・エクスプレス」以降、「アリスのエクスプレス」「プレイバック・エクスプレス」と続き、12月に放映されますCMとして電通の三浦武彦氏は、「こんな夜は、一番大切な人のそばにいて安心したい」とのメッセージに基づき、「ホームタウン・エクスプレス」のクリスマス編を制作されました。

遠距離恋愛の恋人たちが、新幹線でクリスマスに再会を果たすと言うCM。
「恋人同士でクリスマスを過ごす」と言う新たな文化が生まれる等の社会現象を起こしました。
このCMシリーズは1988年から1992年の5年間放映されました。

「クリスマス・エクスプレス」のCMが放映されていました当時、1988年から1992年。
自分は23歳から27歳。
職業ギタリストとして多忙を極めていた時期でもありました。
全国を東へ西へ、北から南へと駆け回っていた頃でもありました。

東京にて、当時所属をさせていただいていました事務所所有のマンションを拠点に据えての生活。
大阪の自宅アパートには年に数回程度しか帰宅する事が出来ず。
当時お付き合いをさせていただいていました大阪在住の彼女に逢えるのも年に数日。

自分も「クリスマス・エクスプレス」を利用させていただき、彼女の待つ大阪へと必死になって向かった事が懐かしくも鮮やかに思い出されます。

携帯もネットもメールも無かった時代。
逢う事が全てでした。
疲れなど微塵も感じる事無く"大好きな彼女に逢いたい！！"
ただただその一心でね。
息を切らし、心を弾ませ、額に汗をしながらね。
最終列車に乗るべく、駅のホームへと続く道を必死に必死に走り抜けたあの日... あの時... あの瞬間。
